Art Post - Minerva McGonagall (R)

[info]angharad04 is currently working on a wonderful story called: "Photographic Evidence" . If you haven't read it yet, you should follow the link and give it a read because it's marvelous.

I was inspired to do a drawing of the photograph of Minerva that gets taken in the first chapter. Hopefully the author will approve. It's behind the cut because the picture is both rather large and not work safe... ;)

Good drawing! It's lovely to see how well you're developing your artistic skills - proof that practice really does pay off, I guess :)

Yes, practice does help. :)

Thanks. I'm glad that it came close to your mental image. :)

That's beautiful, but in the second chapter, Dean indicated that she wasn't wearing her glasses. It's hard to brush your hair when you're wearing your glasses. Aside from that technicality, I think it's fabulous. *applauds*

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll try to be more careful next time.

I wear my glasses, too. I can't see much of anything otherwise. Thanks.

I hope I have Minerva's body when i am her age! Actually, I dodn't think I have Minerva's body now and I am younger than her. Sigh. Great drawing though! You have really developed a great asrtistic sense of proportion - and I still really love your hands.

Oh, I love this, it's gorgeous. And look at her feet - so many people get them wrong, but you've done a great job! ~grin~ This is just outstanding, J. ~applause~

Thanks. I was pretty pleased with it. Though I feel foolish for adding the glasses. I almost didn't. Oh, well...

Still wish I could draw. Her legs are amazing!

I love it! In fact, I love it so much that I might be willing to change a few words in the second chapter - something along the lines of "...so different that the only thing he recognized were her square spectacles." That is, if the artist will allow me to include the fully-credited illustration with the chapter... ;)

Like [info]scatteredlogic, I really like Minerva's feet in this picture. I also adore the way you draw hair. :) Imagine, a story of mine inspiring artwork... ~clapping hands in fangirlish glee~

I've been wanting to draw this picture ever since I first read your first chapter of the story. The image has been stuck in my mind, but I haven't had time to devote to it until recently.

You don't have to change anything. I can try to remove the glasses if you prefer. I think the image would have to be reduced to put it up on DQ. It's 775 x 891 pixels now, and I think the maximum is 800 x 800. I can try to reduce it myself, though I do tend to lose sharpness when I do, unfortunately.

I'm just glad that you like it. I'm never sure how someone else will feel when I'm trying to depict events from their stories. :)

There are some lovely clean lines in this picture. I get a sense of movement in the brush hand and Minerva's hair, even.

It is a wizarding photograph, after all, so there should be some movement in it. LOL Thanks. :)

This is beautiful..
The hair in particular is lovely - and it makes me want to have a go at drawing with pencils again.
Thanks for sharing.

"OMG, it's a teacher!! And OMG, she's SEXAY!!!!!"

Shocking the students out of their illusions was the point of the story, I think. :D I'm glad you think this illustration measures up. LOL

This is beautiful, J! You do the most wonderful hair and feet! She looks like something that should be in a pinup calendar!

Re: Waitin' for this!

Thank you. I'm glad that you like the picture. And thanks for the kind words about TBM. I doubt if it has a chance of winning anything, but it's nice to know that I might not be the only one voting for it. ;D
